Make noise. Make friends.

Smash&Rumble is better with people in the room. Come shape the game while it's still wonderfully unfinished.

DUTCH GAMEDEVCENTRE

Our Community

Dutch GameDevCentre is more than a place where games are developed. It is a community of enthusiastic hobbyists, students, artists, programmers and game designers who share one passion: making games.

Whether you are just getting started with Unity, have years of Blender experience or are simply curious about game development, you are welcome to join.

01

Learning and growing together

Game development is a field in which learning never stops. New techniques, tools and workflows appear constantly. Our community helps one another by sharing knowledge, answering questions and exchanging experience.

Struggling with a Unity script? Stuck on a Blender model? Looking for feedback on a game mechanic? There is always someone willing to think along with you.

We believe you learn faster by collaborating and being open about both successes and mistakes.

02

Feedback and support

Developing a game can be challenging. That is why creating an environment in which people support one another matters to us.

Within the community you can:

  • Request feedback on your projects.
  • Discuss ideas before developing them.
  • Find testers for prototypes and demos.
  • Discuss technical problems.
  • Find inspiration from other developers.
  • Collaborate on new projects.

Constructive feedback helps all of us make better games.

03

Tools and technology

Game development spans many disciplines. We therefore explore a wide range of tools and techniques, including:

  • Unity
  • Blender
  • Visual Studio
  • Git and version control
  • Shader Graph
  • 3D modelling
  • Animation
  • Audio and music
  • Multiplayer technologies
  • UI and UX design

By sharing knowledge about these tools, we help one another move forward throughout the development process.

04

The role of AI

Artificial intelligence plays an increasingly significant role in game development. AI does not replace the developer, but it can help people work faster and explore new ideas.

Within the community we explore how AI can support:

  • Writing code.
  • Generating prototypes.
  • Creating documentation.
  • Developing game concepts.
  • Generating textures and concept art.
  • Analysing gameplay and balance.
  • Accelerating repetitive work.

For us, AI is a tool that supports developers, leaving more time for creativity, gameplay and innovation.

05

Accessible to everyone

Dutch GameDevCentre welcomes beginners and experienced developers alike. You do not need to be a professional. Curiosity, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn matter more than experience.

Together we build games, share knowledge and help one another move forward.

Ultimately, game development is not only about the end result, but especially about the people who make it possible together.
